How Does It Work?

Direct Route uses the same information you use to generate routes: Who, What, When and Where.

The system is designed to automate your routing and scheduling process using your customer data and work rules. Direct Route comes loaded with automated customer importing, route printing, and route exporting capability.

  • Where are my customers located? (Direct Route uses your customer addresses to automatically plot your customers on the map.)
  • Who requires a service, delivery, or pickup? (The system uses this information to route current work.)
  • What time and/or volume are required (cases, cube, service time, unload time, etc.)? (The system uses this information to develop feasible routes using your volume and work rules.)
  • What are the work rules (i.e. maximum work time, latest return time, etc.)? (The system uses this information to let you define and modify work rules as desired.)
  • What are the route capacities for my vehicles? (The system lets you set capacity limits on your vehicles.)
  • In what time frame must the service, delivery, or pickup be completed? (The system utilizes earliest and latest dates and customer available hours in developing optimal routes.)
  • When can my vehicles start and when must they return? (The system lets you define how you want to dispatch individual vehicles or all vehicles.)

Direct Route automatically combines your customer data and work rules and creates more efficient routes in minutes – not hours!!

Create Routes

Direct Route allows a dispatcher to create optimized routes in one of four ways:

  1. By having Direct Route automatically build and optimize routes. Direct Route builds the most efficient routes utilizing your work rules, customer information, and route cost factors.
  2. By automatically loading pre-existing routes and allowing Direct Route to load new stops to the existing routes where they would best fit.
  3. By using a set of skeletal routes, the user can load a routing solution and manually make modifications to the routes as desired.
  4. By manually pointing and clicking on stops located on the map. As stops are placed on routes, the user can see the total miles, hours and volumes on the routes as they are developed.

Direct Route allows easy viewing and modifying of your routes on a full-color detailed map and through spreadsheet updating. You have the flexibility of quickly changing your work rules and running a new route solution or modifying routes on the map rather than having to shuffle through a stack of reports. You can also save and re-open multiple route solutions and choose the solution that you want to utilize.

Route Reports and Exports

Direct Route allows a user to print and export routes and utilize reporting many ways:

  1. Print detailed route manifests including turn-by-turn driving instructions.
  2. Export routes to Web Report Module for wide-area access and visibility of operations.
  3. Import GPS data into Web Report Module for real-time updating and historical reporting.
  4. Export route data to GPS units, Accounting System, Warehouse Management System, etc.
  5. Print detailed street route maps for your personnel.
  6. Print detailed street route map sections.
  7. Print detailed stop-by-stop route maps.
  8. Export route manifests to text file for Email.
