Appian Acquires TruckStops North America from MicroAnalytics

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – January 25, 2010 – Appian Logistics Software announced today that it has acquired TruckStops North America from MicroAnalytics, thereby combining two of the best-known names in the logistics technology marketplace. This strengthens Appian’s position as North America’s premier provider of automated fleet routing and GPS solutions for the transportation industry.

Founded in 1983, MicroAnalytics is a pioneer in the development of computerized fleet routing. The company has been one of the most active software providers in the logistics industry with over 2,800 installations of the TruckStops system worldwide. The company operates offices in Arlington, Virginia and Toronto, Ontario. MicroAnalytics will continue to market and sell the BUSTOPS and OptiSite systems in North America and the TruckStops system outside of North America. UK customers will continue to be served by MapMechanics, who have been the exclusive TruckStops provider in the United Kingdom for nearly 20 years. Other terms of the transaction were not made public.

“Appian Logistics Software is proud to add TruckStops North America to our portfolio and we welcome TruckStops customers to the Appian family” said company President Mike Kositzky. “Our companies have a strong tradition of providing innovative technologies that help transportation companies streamline route planning and reduce operating costs. This transaction allows Appian to expand its reach to a larger audience of fleet operators in North America.”

Appian recently released its Direct Route V9 system for the Windows .NET platform and has followed this up by adding TruckStops North America to its portfolio. “We have a strong commitment to helping fleet operators reduce costs using innovative routing and GPS solutions. This acquisition is further evidence of this commitment and we look forward to working hand-in-hand with TruckStops North America customers to usher in a new era of automated fleet management” said Vice President James Stevenson.
